Bio Nova’s tissue engineering technology produces collagen based scaffolds for tissue repair.

In order to replicate the complex form and function of the tissues and organs it is necessary to grow different cell types into a three dimensional structure.  One of the obstacles for scientists in creating human tissue in the laboratory has been the difficulty in building three-dimensional cellular structures.

A possible solution is to grow cells isolated from the patient or donor tissue on a pre-formed three-dimensional scaffold that holds those cells close enough together so that they can organise themselves to form functioning tissues.
