The Omniflow II Principle

The Omniflow II prosthesis combines the properties
of biological and synthetic materials

The Omniflow II vascular prosthesis is a true composite material comprised of ovine collagen with an integral endoskeleton of polyester mesh. The prosthesis is chemically stabilised, which, along with the integration of mesh and collagen, imparts superior mural strength. The haemocompatible flow surface is comprised of stable biological material.

The combination of polyester mesh and biological collagen provides a single structure that combines the durability of the synthetic material with the haemocompatible flow surface provided by the biological material
	The chemical stabilisation of the collagen prevents it breaking down in the body so that it is a permanent structure. The collagen and the embedded polyester mesh pulsate together. The mesh provides constant support and reinforcement for the collagen and distributes the forces evenly along the graft.
A microscopic section shows the polyester mesh providing structural support and reinforcement to the surrounding collagen structure.
